A region made up of eight provinces, each quite different. Perhaps best known for its coastline of over 500 miles this region is steeped in history and culture and is the home of flamenco dancing, bullfighting and high spirits!
Once occupied by The Moors for over seven centuries, a mixed race of Berbers and Arabs that occupied Spain, Seville, Granada and Cordoba are a fine example of the mixture of Christian and Muslim influence with Granada being home of the most famous Moorish monument, the Alhambra Palace.
Ronda and its surrounding villages are typically Andalucian with clusters of
properties overlooked by castles and churches, again with a Moorish and Christian influence.
The region is mountainous and has ski resorts at Sierra Nevada and Sierra Morena. It is also home to Spain’s largest nature reserve at Coto Donana near Cadiz.
But the most visited parts of this region are the coastal areas with the Costa del Sol resorts of Torremolinos and Benalmadena the most developed and offering fantastic family holidays. Marbella and Puerto Banus offer a luxurious stay and are popular with the rich and famous.
Overall, this is a region of vast contrast. It’s people will offer you a warm and hospitable stay in this most fulfilling and exciting part of Spain.
Please also see ‘Costa de Sol’ region for more information on that area. A majority of our properties are located under that area….
