A picturesque region in which to the South lies the Picos de Europa National Park, whilst the north offers coastal cliffs and beautiful beaches.

A population of 1,000,000 live in a mild climate with temperatures averaging 12?c in winter and 20?c in Summer.

Oriedo stages the Pre-Romanesque jewels of San Miguel de Lillo and Santa Maria del Naranco, whilst in Cangas de Onis a chapel built in the 5th century attracts many visitors. This town is a good base for visitors to the Picos de Europa.

Gijon is home of the remarkable Hot Springs and is hometown of the Spanish autor Jovellanos.

Food…..

Do not leave this region without trying the traditional specialities of Cider (poured from a bottle overhead) and Cascidielles (made with Walnuts) and frixuelos (sweet pancakes). In fact Nava hosts a Cider Festival every July!
