The Costa Calida is one of Spain’s best kept secrets where you can enjoy a taste of ‘real Spain’.
Cartagena is the Costa Calida’s most historical town, with a wealth of archaeological treasures, including museums, a Roman theatre and a port dating back 3,000 years.
The real jewel of the area is The Mar Menor and La Manga. The Mar Menor is Europe’s biggest salt water lagoon, protected from the sea from a strip of land, only 22 km wide, called La Manga del Mar Menor. Swimming from these beaches is particularly safe, making it an ideal place for families to relax and enjoy their holidays. It is believed that these waters have healing properties for ailments such as rheumatism and arthritis.
This area is perfect for practising a variety of watersports and many people come to train in this area.
Inland, the golf course, La Manga Club is well recognised, Worldwide, as a luxury resort. Casino’s, golf, tennis – the list goes on…….
The World Health Organisation has declared the province of Murcia the cleanest area in Spain, which is a great compliment and it is Spain’s most important agricultural area.
If you fancy a mud bath, Lo pagan boasts the lMap of the Costa Calida, Spainargest area of open air mud baths in Europe, highly recommended for skin complaints. Together with a fish market, lovely quiet beaches and an interesting nightscene, it is well worth a visit.
Mazarron, with its fishing port, is a seaside resort town with some beautiful beaches and nearby Aguilas has the ruins of Velez Castle to wander round and enjoy.
